One Person Killed in Incident at North Forsyth High, Sheriff’s Office Reports

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. —
2:05 p.m. Update: The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office announced during a 2 p.m. news conference that one person has died following a fight at North Forsyth High School.

Authorities said the incident happened late Tuesday morning. Shortly after 11 a.m., deputies responded to the school after the school resource officer reported he needed “all hands on deck.” Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough said deputies arrived to find a fight between two students on campus, which resulted in a “loss of life.”

A large law enforcement presence, along with emergency medical teams, responded to the scene. Earlier, EMS confirmed to WXII that at least one person was transported to Atrium’s trauma unit, though officials did not release the person’s condition or confirm whether the individual was a student.

WS/FCS Superintendent Dr. Don Phipps said North Forsyth High School will be closed to students on Wednesday. Crisis teams will work with faculty and staff and will be available to support students when they return.
