James Bond Movies Hit Netflix in January Despite Amazon Ownership

Netflix is set to excite and surprise audiences as multiple James Bond movies arrive on the platform in January, despite the franchise being owned by rival streaming company Amazon MGM Studios.

Beginning January 15, Netflix subscribers across the United States, France, German-speaking regions, Latin America, and several other global territories will be able to stream four major Bond films for a limited three-month window. The lineup includes the latest installment “No Time to Die”, along with fan favorites “Skyfall,” “Quantum of Solace,” and “Die Another Day.”

The move comes as part of Amazon MGM’s broader licensing strategy, which continues to place its iconic film library on competing platforms. Alongside the Bond titles, Netflix will also add select “Rocky” and “Creed” films, as well as the popular “Legally Blonde” franchise.

Amazon MGM has already licensed several original series to Netflix. Shows such as “Hunters” are currently available in the U.S. and other regions, while “The Man in the High Castle” and additional Amazon-produced series are also scheduled to stream on Netflix internationally.

Chris Ottinger, Head of Worldwide Distribution at Amazon MGM Studios, explained that the company has remained committed to licensing MGM’s legacy content worldwide since Amazon’s acquisition. He emphasized that the James Bond franchise continues to be one of cinema’s most influential brands and that the agreement reflects strong audience demand for premium storytelling and a solid partnership between Amazon and Netflix.

Traditionally, Bond films rotate onto Prime Video for a short period each October around James Bond Day, with additional airings on MGM+ through the end of the year. The Netflix deal extends the franchise’s visibility while fans await the highly anticipated 26th James Bond film, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve.

Although the director is confirmed, the next Bond movie is not expected to release until 2028 or later, making Netflix’s temporary Bond collection a timely way to keep global interest in 007 alive.
