Paul enters the fight riding momentum after back-to-back wins over former world champions. He dominated a 58-year-old Mike Tyson in November 2024 during Netflix’s boxing debut and followed it up with a points victory over Julio César Chávez Jr. in June 2025.
Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua remains one of the most accomplished heavyweights of the modern era. An Olympic gold medalist, Joshua outweighed Paul by nearly 27 pounds at the official weigh-ins. The British star returns to the ring for the first time since suffering a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024 for the IBF heavyweight title.
After undergoing elbow surgery earlier this year, Joshua has made major changes to his training setup. He has parted ways with Ben Davison and joined the camp of Oleksandr Usyk, training under Iegor Golub in Valencia, Spain. Friday night marks Golub’s first appearance in Joshua’s corner.
